About Nene Bowmen.
The club was established in 1966 for the practice and promotion of archery in the Peterborough area. The club currently has about 40 members, around 20 of whom shoot at least a couple of times a month.
The club is dedicated to ensuring archers have a safe and responsible attitude to the sport. At the same time, we try to have a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere that can help individual archers shoot to whatever level they are prepared to work towards.
In order to provide more support to our junior members a separate Nene Bowmen Junior Club has recently been set up. The juniors will be given the opportunity to have far more input into issues that affect them.
The club has a number of qualified coaches available to run beginners courses and provide other tuition as required.
There are strong County, Regional and National organisations to help develop individual archers and promote the sport as a whole. Although Nene Bowmen shoot in Cambridgeshire, the club is affiliated to Northamptonshire. This means that we are part of the East Midlands Archery Society (EMAS).
Junior and Senior Archers from Nene Bowmen take part in a range of local,
regional and national competitions and are often selected to represent
Northamptonshire. One of our current
members has
also represented
Great
Britain in the past. This means that if you are a new archer there is
a great deal of experience you can draw on to help you develop.
